His first big mistake was retaining Fuller, in my opinion.

Some of the NCAA trouble started there, and none of those guys who Fuller signed panned out. Kim should have cleaned house completely and brought in his own assistants. I'm not saying he would have succeeded, but maybe there wouldn't have been a two or three year exodus of players if he had.
That move, in my opinion, was indicative of how poorly connected he is as a recruiting head coach - he had to hang onto an assistant that he really didn't know very well, a desperate act in order to recruit well - showing he couldn't do it on his own merits. Perhaps that's too harsh.
