many of us (hopefully all of us) wanted Kim to succeed. I believe FIJI did too, but to his credit FIJI always maintained a strong belief that Kim probably wouldn't succeed and even frequently laid out WHY Kim wouldn't succeed.

Some of us are optimists. Some of us are realists. Some of us are a mixture of both.

Usually I'm a realist, but I really wanted Kim to do well for many reasons, primarily because he's an honorable good man who loves Mizzou. It's been a long time since a Mizzou coach bled black and gold. It's been a long time since a Mizzou coach loved not only Mizzou but the state of Missouri as much as any other Missourian. It's been a long while since a Mizzou coach was dedicated to creating a program based upon a strong foundation of stewardship and sound fundamentals. It's been a long time since a Mizzou coach didn't have a cloud of scandal hanging over his head.

I'll admit I'm deeply disappointed in the program and for allowing myself to be blinded by hope. I think a part of me always knew it was a HUGE gamble, but I wanted to believe for once Luck (in the absence of logic) would shine favorably upon Mizzou considering Mizzou's incredibly long history of inexplicable bad luck.

I was wrong.

Regardless, I still believe Kim is a good coach. I refuse to believe he lucked into a D-2 national championship. Crappy coaches don't win a national championship at any level...unless that coach's name is Gene Chizik.

I actually do believe Kim was hired at a very tumultuous time that resulted in many unnecessary on and off court distractions - an NCAA investigation spilling over from the previous shiithead coach, Black Lives Matter protests which crippled the school and badly tarnished its reputation, massive transfers, etc.

But there I go again making excuses. When all is said and done, Kim is responsible for the team's success despite distractions. Kim has not delivered.

Therefore, it's past time for a coaching change.

But if I saw Kim Anderson walking down the street or quietly eating in a small town diner, I'd briefly stop and thank him for his time at Mizzou. At the very least he deserves a pat on the back and perhaps a bit of encouragement.

He tried. He failed.

That last thing Kim needs is ridicule. I bet very few people are more disappointed in the state of the program than Kim Anderson.
