Firing him now:
You send a message to the fan base that this level of failure is unacceptable.
You save a small amount of money by not having to pay his country club membership, for his cars, and for recruiting expenses he's incurring.
You save him from the embarrassment of going winless in conference.
Keeping him on:
You can't get a new coach until the season is over anyways.
It might be seen as compassionate by a new hire.
You are going to pay the same buyout now or in 2 months.
