Simple.
When you have pro sports teams which have won World Series, Cards, Browns; NBA title, Hawks; Super Bowl, Rams; MISL Championships, Steamers; been to NHL finals multiple times, Blues; and a college bb championship, St. Louis U, it's not just about scheduling and wins and losses. It's about competing with life long fandom in many cases, which competes for the same dollars on any many of the same days, and normally includes 2-3 or more hours less travel.
From a marketing point of view, it is a hard sell in St. Louis for all of the reasons listed above and in my prior post, and more. St. Louis has been mostly ignored except for recruiting for years at a time. It seems Sterk has some understanding of the need to step up the effort with his recent move with Howard Richards. It will be a long slow process which is hampered by advancing technology.
