It's like the word unique.
Unique USED TO mean, singular and one of a kind. Most people got it wrong, misused it and butchered the original meaning.
Now it means kinda unusual or rare. OR, it can mean one of a kind and singular.
The point is in my opinion, that the words "unusual" and "rare" already exist. It is redundant to have unique mean the same thing, literally.
Likewise literally. We already have the words virtually and figuratively. Why should we expand the meaning of literally to mean the same thing as words that already exist, especially when the "new" meaning is in conflict with the original meaning?
Which "unique" did he mean?
Which "literally" did she mean?
It's like the socialists changing the meaning of the constitution. Get it wrong often enough and wrong becomes right.
Not a big deal, just a pet peeve.
