i have played and watched a lot of levels of sports. i was recruited and offered to play soccer at a high level school, and discussed soccer with the coach. having an understanding of the game allows players to run plays/sets, and if that play/set is defended well, the knowledge to adapt is probably the biggest. you simply can't do things at a higher level if you don't have the talent & understanding of the game. that much, i can't explain or show examples of right now. i'm sure i could do some research, but it's very obvious to anyone that played competitive sports at a higher level than 12yrs old.
