From a Sherrif dept i'm friends with:
INS says don't even call unless there are 5 or more illegals.
Most the time if they do lock one up for whatever reason, it takes weeks to get INS to pick them up and your not re-imbursed for the cost of the stay. Take any of these smaller towns with meat packing plants, locking up the illegals and sending them to INS would cash their whole law enforcement budget out.

THe application fees fund the whole USCIS applications and vetting proccess.
it costs $680 to go from green card to citizen. Classes to study for the test are privitized. the top reason for not legalizing is struggling with the english language for the test.
THe fees can be waived by application and proof they are below poverty level.
Why would you need an immigration lawyer?
Your in immigration court, inadmissible: committed a crime or LIED TO THE US GOVERNMENT. too much paperwork, Encountering delays such as form is lost after moving to another USCIS presinct.
legal immigration is NOT what anyone would say is easy.
And if they are here under a false name, there, they lied to the US government. So you have to lawyer up and double your costs.
