seems pretty obvious to me.
How do you go about, on a daily, weekly and monthly basis, determining which "illegal" person is "productive and paying taxes"?
They work off the books, for cash, they do seasonal work. They work one week, not the next - I'm having trouble seeing how that is a realistic approach.
So you're telling the world:
The US has borders and there are rules and requirements for entry and a documented path to emigrate to the US; however, if you don't want to mess with our rules, just break in and find some kind of work and we'll treat you as though you went through the legal process.
that seems very illogical and also very unfair and inhumane to those wanting to come here legally.
