Ryan went 266-26 (.908) at Wisconsin–Platteville in the 1990s, not because he had superior talent to the opposition. He was at Wisc for 15 years and made the tourney every single year. They had Devin Harris, Arlando Tucker, and Marcus Landry that I can recall as high level talents. His teams won because they were excellently coached, disciplined, and exhibited high levels of execution. Same applies for Bob Knight's Indiana teams which had a few elite talents but mostly were less talented than the elite programs they bested.
