1. He tried to save Iran hostages and mission failed.

2. He hired Paul Volcker as Fed chair. Volcker tightened the money supply and plunged the country into recession in order to bring inflation (mostly inherited from Nixon/Ford) under control. Reagan looked good when the money supply loosened up.

Please explain why this message is being reported.
