They were saying the husband was using the racial slur. I could be wrong, it's been a while since I've rerun the situation in my head. An employee for the university was using the terms in reference to their coworkers at the university.
I'm not saying the language is even an issue, but that starts getting in to racial slurs and potential discrimination (to use a previous coined phrase) against the university's staff. That's a lot more real.
Reverse the situation. Some AAD's wife and Tim Wolfe's wife commenting on how their husband said the "n's are getting mouthy" (or something to that effect) would have led to everything short of death by firing squad in front of the columns.
It goes to what I was saying earlier, the language isn't the issue, the actions are.
Driving racists deeper into the shadows doesn't cure racism at all.
