Oh, I don't know.
There seems a whole lot of human thinking and logic in that proposal. Is that Jesus who tells us this or is the ancient Jews writing their scrolls during Babylonian Captivity.
If one at his heart of hearts regret the wrongs he imagines he has committed - is that enough?
And why does one NEED to be forgiven. I don't understand this quest for forgiveness. Perhaps deep regret is the equivalent. But one does not need God or ESPECIALLY FEAR of God to feel such regret. I deeply regret disappointing my children in two specific instances. I don't need God to forgive that. My regret is pain enough.
