I hear that a lot too...the expense associated with baseball

equipment. I suppose that depends on the parent but i can add up my Jr in high schools baseball equipment cost pretty easy.
1 glove since 8th grade, very nice glove and it cost $200 and he will have used it for at least 4 years. So $50 a year.
He gets a new bat maybe every 18 months. We buy last years "hot" model at the time from justbats.com...typically around $100 to $150 so $50 to $75 per year.
He's had the same batting helmet for at least 3 years, cleats maybe every other year, batting gloves, etc etc i'm looking at $150 per year
So for all that stuff we're talking maybe $300 per year. I'm sure basketball shoes, arm sleeves and all the crap for basketball probably runs you close to it.
The expense is the travel and it doesn't change from one sport to another...they're all expensive.
