When you make Hispanics scapegoats for crime and few jobs, that's identity politics.
When you point out that blacks are on the government dole, then that's playing identity politics.
Going all the way back to 1988 when George H.W. Bush and his decision to use Willie Horton, that's Hall of Fame worthy example of identity politics.
