Both offensively and defensively.

adding to your comments about his offensive IQ, he swung the ball quicker which put other teammates in better position and kept the timing of the sets in balance. He stays balanced with the ball and doesn't need as much of an explosive step. On a team with 5 guys who don't check out and will run the sets, he will be a very valuable asset.

Defensively, it just frustrates me how perception of playing good defense is a players ability to provide pressure. It's about positioning pure and simple. It's holding postion to create indecision for the player with the ball. Stay neutral, no obvious go or cutback lanes. Just deep enough to stall an entry pass and just tight enough to contest a shot. He gets that. Marcus Denmon got that. I will give you that he didn't see the court well enough and reacted a tad late to screens, had to recover too hard on occasion and let himself susceptible to cut backs. Did it several times playing elbow in a zone. That's just nerves. You can see enough of how he opens up to the ball and slides on the weak side to know he gets it.

He was the only player, who consistently looked for a man to block out on a shot and then tracked the ball. Not 1 other player did that consitently enough to show that was instinctual to his game. And when you are trying to shape a group of kids who have never been taught the technical side of the game, you must reward the one kid on the team who has.
