Never thought the Tate hire made any sense. Blatant "old school" thinking - "let's get a black coach with urban connections and we'll get all the recruits!" Same stupid thinking behind keeping Fuller. We need actual basketball coaches to teach players basketball skills. Tate looks terrible and I don't ever recall him being the smartest of players. He was obviously brought on for his perceived recruiting advantages.
But you have to have a product first. There is no shortcut. You can't recruit yourself into having a good basketball program. You have to have a solid program in place, and that means all the day-to-day people like the strength and conditioning coach, the assistant coaches, the dieticians and trainers...
