Conflict between conference's and members' interests

It's seldom noted on the board, but what's in the best interest of a conference is not necessarily in the best interest of each and every member. I.e. in the hearts how happy are the folks at LSU that they now have a potentially monster program in aTm just to the west that they have to play every season.
Clearly, if Houston becomes a member of the Big XII it is a step that makes it possible for Houston to be more competitive with UT in not just athletics, but in other areas. The fact there are some folks in Austin who don't want to see anything happen for Houston that would make it more competitive in any way with UT is not surprising.
I'm not familiar with West Virginia's concerns about Cincy.
