Henry faded at the end of their careers, which is why their win/loss records aren't impressive.
Some would counter that Pinkel padded his record by playing some teams that Faurot or Devine would never had. Don Faurot was one of the most impressive men I ever met, so when he said Gwinn Henry was the best coach to Broeg, I believe it. Faurot hired Frank Broyles and Dan Devine, back-to-back. He mentored Bud Wilkinson and Jim Tatum. That's a pretty good indication that he was a good judge of coaching talent.
As you said, it's all apples and oranges, so maybe the best coach that Mizzou ever had was Bill Roper whose Tigers never lost a game. Too bad he only stayed in Columbia one year.
