Mediocre would be an improvement from last year

Gant was a much improved defender last year. So if the returning player improve on the level that he did, the defense could approach average, which would be significant improvement over last year. The KenPom defensive ranking was below 200 last year. An improvement to average would be about 60-70 spot improvement.
