1) Do they? There are those that make a living off stoking the flames. I seriously question if they want less crime or not.
2) It sure seems to be a left/right issue at the moment
3) Part of signing up with the guard is the possibility of your life being disrupted. You don't think being shipped to the Middle East for six months wasn't disruptive? They are not there to be law enforcement; they are there to free up law enforcement and provide them backup.
4) The National Guard is trained in multiple things. One of those being crowd control and another being the assistance of governing authorities to keep the peace.
5) Those protesting all seem to be old white people whose neighborhoods are not under attack every night. They can afford gated neighborhoods and private security. The poor people are always glad to see more law enforcement.
