back then. There were nothing like separate facilities, but there may as well have been. I went to school in the Mehlville School District for 13 years (including kindergarten) and in the entire time I was enrolled, I went to school with only one black student. In the whole school. And that was not until I was a junior in high school.

The N-word was used all the time, unfortunately.
