their status, that is the government determining they are no longer here illegally.

When someone comes here legally, then violates the conditions of their visa, they are here illegally. If the government then changes their status back to legal. They are no longer here illegally.

It is lying when the Trump admin claims someone is in the US illegally when the government granted them status to legally work in the US.

The Trump admin needs to prove in court why someone with a federal work permit is here illegally. If they can, then they can deport. If they refuse to do so, they are ignoring Due Process, which is a fundamental right for everyone subject to the Us government.
