I would wager eventually there are two major conferences

left standing, like the NFC (Big 10) and AFC (SEC), with those conferences split into divisions.

KU and CU will be a part of it along with some of the ACC schools.

The left behinds will fade into obscurity with little interest except from alumni much as no one really cares about D2 football except alumni.
