He wins everywhere he goes, runs a clean program, and was already a proven surefire winner when he became available after Texas fired him. It was March of 2015 so MU and Tennessee had not yet flipped and MU was the much better basketball job. And we had a lame duck D2 coach at the time who was the lowest paid coach in the SEC and had already proven conclusively that he couldn’t do the job. This was also before we made up the NCAA investigation and put ourselves on probation to scapegoat Haith.
The window of time was 2 days, because Tennessee hired him almost immediately when he became available because he was such a sure thing and they had already fired their coach. But there wasn’t a program in a better position to dump a coach and make a hire that cared about basketball more than MU. But our admin and AD and boosters were a total mess at that point and we just continued on with Kim. And UT considerably leapfrogged us as a program because of it
