"dirty" for Mizzou to hire?

Whenever someone would float their name as a candidate, it would automatically get dismissed by MU fans saying "no way he's too dirty" or "MU would never hire a dirtbag like him" etc...

And now, I'm looking at the sustained success that Auburn & Houston have had over the last decade, and I'm wondering why Mizzou (and most of its fans) were so opposed to hiring guys like Pearl and Sampson when they became available.
