the plan is to have the recession as soon as possible (simply realizing the recession Biden governed through) and get interest rates lower before you have to refinance about $10T of debt coming due this year.
You do *not* want anything other than a gnarly recession right now if you like our currency.
Keep in mind that the "we haven't been in a recession" talk is based on warped Keynesian interpretations of fluffed government statistics. Keynes (whether you like him or hate him, reasons for both) always assumed government debt would be taken on in bad times and paid back in good ones - hence large interest payments and vastly corrupt spending were *not* incorporated in the assumptions he used to justify including government spending in GDP. The form of government spending he assumed was (1) a much smaller component of overall economic activity than we recently grew to and (2) was dominated by capital projects or useful defense, which have high multipliers - not transfer payments and interest. Adjust for those last 2 and we've been in recession for some time.
