Softball is building back to hopefully finish top 1/2 in the SEC in the future instead of the bottom half which is likely this year. McCann will need to continue to improve and a frosh or portal pitcher will have to hit to get back there, in my view. If the coaching staff stays in place, not expecting a great hitting team to emerge. Hopefully the defense gets better with experience and committing players to positions will help. I find it hard to see Okie City or SEC titles anytime soon. Agree with others that the competition is tougher than ever so it is increasingly difficult to be a top program.
I kind of expect baseball to definitely finish last (that program is a joke) in the SEC and softball to struggle to keep out of the bottom. Spring sports just isn’t much of a Mizzou fan thing unless softball or baseball are worth interest. Softball still holds the promise of a decent future return with experience and development and a pitcher that hits out of future recruiting classes.
