Lyons faced defenders up at the elbow and then attacked, whereas Mitchell does so outside the arc. So he has to travel much farther and is farther away from the hoop when shooting. Also once Lyons had them retreating he would drive into them rather than around/over like Mitchell. It was almost impossible to not incur a foul when Lyons did functionally the same thing Mitchell attempts.
Mitchell could really use more possessions where he is working off a defender he has sealed on his back instead of always facing up.
