I think that is a fair assessment, and would generally agree.
Trying to negotiate anything in the Middle East is a lost cause, and temporary at best.
Saw an interesting presentation a few weeks ago on biofeuls. The Biofuels was started under Bush after 9-11 when Bush basically told his administration that we need out of the Middle East (mainly dependent on oil then).
In general, between Bush, Obama, and Trump, we have been very successful at that (although the Middle East still has big control on global policy.
Sorry for rambling, but I think we just need to get out of the Middle East, and just basically tell them to just fight within their own cage.
Because if Trump goes into Gaza, does whatever he does, and gives it to some third party, that third party will just be as corrupt as what is there now.
