perception influenced by the rankings but it is not close to a determining factor.

Of course the closer to the top of the rankings you are the more it will mirror the seedings, but counting on being a 4 seed because you are ranked #16 is not close to being 100%.

Again AP rankings are done a week prior to the selection Sunday and there is quite a bit of movement from conference tournaments
