goose egg always looks bad, but in reality there’s insignificant difference. It did not impact this year.

I’m not excusing anything. Despite the two major injuries last year, Gates had some critical roster failures. The fans should be unhappy about what happened last year, and Gates deserves some criticism for it. But I also understand the notion that winning just a few extra games doesn’t really matter at that point.
The difference between 8 wins and 12 wins is nowhere close to the same thing as the difference between 20 wins and 24 wins.
