Before Gates, we were terrible almost every single year. Basketball hell for decades. Then Gates comes in, immediately achieves our best SEC finish in program history. Now this season possibly even bettering that year.

If Gates recognizes that a season is going to be rough, that he doesn't have the pieces to make a run... who cares if he finishes 0-18 or 4-14 in the conference? Does it matter at all? Not one bit. When a season is going south, obviously Gates lays off the motivational speeches and tactics so that his message doesn't grow stale. Sounds like a smart move to me, the kids respect him more. We should appreciate his methods.
