Shaw in at 9:06. Warrick out at 8:46. Shaw came in up 13, left up 7.

You’re missing the overall point by focusing on how Shaw is used rather than why he’s used in that fashion.

Gates isn’t iimiting Shaw. Shaw limits how Gates can use him.
