A junior Shaw ought to be able to surpass him in the rotation, but there just hasn't been enough growth in his game. He's a better defender than Pierce, but his rebounds per minute are down fairly significantly from last year. Pierce is rebounding as well as Shaw is and even though he's not quite as good a defender, he's more dynamic offensively.
