consequences either way given that these hilly neighborhoods in southern California have rugose boundaries with the surrounding chaparral forests and the real potential that any of the controlled burns could get out of hand. Hindsight is always perfect. What they did not anticipate was a severe winter drought in Fall/Winter 2024 that further stressed vegetation during the annual rainy season (a rainy season which hasn't happened).
