What's puzzeling to me is the buyouts don't go both ways

If the institution fires the coach, they get a large portion of the remainder of the contract in most cases. If the coach leaves for another job, the buyout is typically a fraction of the overall contract. Bottom line, colleges do not have the horses to compete and negotiate with agents and the contracts are very one-sided.

Look at Drink's contract. It's a $46M contract that goes through 2028. If we fire Drink, he's owed 75% of what is left on his contract. If he leaves, he owes a maximum of $5M and that amount decreases $1M every year.

How is this fair??? It's just the market that institutions have put themselves in. So agree, if you're a P4 coach and fail, you're set for life. In Drink's case, not a bad salary for a guy w/ an Education degree from Arkansas Tech!
