Datacenter teams are gone. It’s in the cloud or “on premise” in rented data centers with standardized hardware racked and shipped by third party contractors like WWT. The outsourced data centers mount the racks, plug them in and cable them. Configuration is automated. If there is a failure in configuration, Indians try to do it manually. Only on failure of that Americans are brought in.
The team I am on is largely unaffected so far because we are implementing a zero trust model and won’t have it fully implemented until 2027. But that model is fully automated. So my team of 14, will need half the employees or less after this this fully implemented. And this is without AI.
Older ones don’t care. The profits drive their 401Ks and they are approaching retirement. The newest workers are oblivious. It’s the Millennials and younger GenX that see how f*cked we are a society because of profit chasing of executives .
