Parity is created in the NFL through anti-trust owner collusion and greed.
In baseball, the PA is more interested in top salaries instead of team competitiveness.
The only thing keeping baseball somewhat alive is the difficulty in predicting the rise and fall of pitching - that levels the playing field somewhat.
But for the most part MLB is you get what you pay for.
It's true though, if the universities could agree to a 'uniform pay scale' for D1 college play, and if the big programs wouldn't cheat, the Mizzou's of the world would have a better shot at reaching the top occasionally.
Honestly though, Mizzou has proven itself in the current environment for the most part.
The next step is recognizing that, once you have quality pieces in place everywhere else, the one difference maker is the QB.
Fair or not, that's why the RB position is worth $1M per season (for example) and the QB position is worth $20M.
Because if you really can buy a QB worth $20M, you will win the national championship.
So under the current system the Mizzou's of the world have to learn this about the QB position and if we don't have the money, this season is likely a pretty good example of as good as it's going to get.
No quarterback, no matter how loyal to any program, should pass on the opportunity of big money at the college level - sports is too fickle to look that gift horse in the mouth.
