people who didn't have opportunities before. The problem is they elevate people regardless of whether they've had the proper training or experience. There's a different standard for one group of people vs others, and that is problematic when the rubber meets the road.
Think about med school, for example. There is a bar to clear to get into med school. If you lower that bar for some people who maybe wouldn't have gotten in, you end up having a higher drop out rate for those folks b/c they weren't qualified in the first place. There's a reason for the bar to get in. And then, lets say you go ahead and push those people through to the end, even if they didn't really meet the standards. Then they don't pass the board...what then? It was a waste of time ignoring the standard in the interest of DEI, and some people who would have gotten in were left out b/c they were the wrong color/sex/whatever.
