Whether or not the current 12-team format works depends on whether deserving SEC teams are left out.

FSU didn't deserve a spot in the 4-team field last season, because there were 1-loss SEC teams that were better (thus more deserving).

And that's my point: The SEC will not tolerate deserving SEC teams being left out, even if they have more losses. The selection committee knew that last year, which is why FSU was left out despite its undefeated record.
