Familiar with this from living in the Carlsbad area for the last 3 years, getting in while interest rates were low and before a major spike in the already high prices. Wouldn't try to swing a purchase here now under current conditions.
San Diego County has the highest electricity rates in the country. You don't need the AC or heat as much as most places, but it still can be a pain unless you have the ability to install solar panels.
Was able to avoid the gas prices to a large degree by working from home.
