1. An assistant coach wrote a check with his mouth where he had no backing of said offer
2. An assistant coach offered money with commitment from a booster/company and they didn't pay out the commitment
3. Kid got a better offer elsewhere

Either way, sounds like this was a verbal offer. I bet this is the last verbal offer you'll see a kid take. Gotta have it in writing.
