Would have liked to see some name players on offense coming in. Clearly the part of the team that needs improvement the most. Of course our offense wasn’t great last year, and LA still coached the team to a top 8 national seed and we were one swing of the bat away from the WCWS, which was remarkable. We are really going to miss Honnold and Laird though, no question.

I do like the 2 non pitchers we got from the portal, think they both have a likelihood of contributing right away. Both were very highly rated coming out of high school and played for quality programs in college.

Ebbs, the transfer from Kentucky, was the POY in Oregon and rated #40 in her class by one service. Hit .298 as a freshman, slumped to .209 as a sophomore, but had a good junior year in 2024, hitting .311. Has some pop in her bat, had 8 HRs last season, 25 total her 3 years at UK.

Sokoloski was the #17 rated player in her class coming out of Texas, but just couldn’t break into the loaded lineup at the top ten Oklahoma St program, no disgrace in that. Given a chance for playing time here I think Mizzou fans might be pleasantly surprised. She has 2 years to play here.

The offense certainly has more question marks than proven hitters returning. Not worried about Hay, think she is likely going to have a monster career here at the plate. And like Abruscato a lot too. Walker and Dodge came in highly regarded, but both struggled for most of the year. Looking for better years from them, and they are both capable of that. Lenger showed a lot of promise too, hoping she keeps improving.

But you really need those senior leaders to step up and close out their careers in strong fashion, which means Daly and Crenshaw really need to step it up and finish on high notes. That will be key.

As always, freshmen are a crap shoot. On paper, Hill from Texas seems most ready to contribute immediately, as the #19 recruit in the country. Will be interesting if Uptegrove, another local kid like Hay, will be able to contribute. She ended her career holding the all time MO record for HRs.
