pick up their sons after a cub scout meeting. One mentioned that her son had take his medications. Then another mother commented about the medications her son was on, then another chimed in and so on.
I was a little shocked. Holy $hit, my son was the only one in the whole pack who wasn't on some kind of drugs.
I heard a psychologist on the radio talking about how overprescribed drugs are. He said that boys especially are diagnosed as ADHD and the parents and teachers are all too happy with those diagnoses because then they can be drugged into sitting quietly in the school room or at home while the parents are busy doing things or watching tv or whatever.
He said for the vast majority of them it is just boys being boys. They're full of energy at that age and don't feel like being told to sit quietly at a desk indoors. But it's just too convenient to drug them out for the convenience of the adults. (italics are my added thoughts)
