Rambunctious, little boys on ADHD meds sit quietly in their seats. Almost all elementary teachers are female and probably half of the students come from single parent, read that single mom, households. We cannot have toxic masculinity in our schools so we drug way too many little boys because they are easier to control that way.
The unintended consequence of that is boys who have been medicated their whole lives have learned zero self control. When they are taken off the meds or simply stop taking them they spiral out of control quickly.
If you have ever talked to a kid on these meds they all hate them. They describe it as everything is seen through a fog. They have fewer behavior issues but the trade off is that they become completely detached from everything. They lose all interest in life and become little zombies.
