few exceptions you never really knew your teachers' political leanings because they simply did not bring it into the classroom.
You could usually figure out your history teachers' feelings because you discussed political topics as part of the curriculum. You also had a few flaky teachers that you knew were flower children. But the rest of the staff never really gave you any indication of their beliefs. That is how it should be.
In the 90's teachers started bringing more of their personal beliefs into the classroom. Now about half of the new teachers think their job title is advocate instead of teacher.
I teach math and science, there is absolutely no reason for my students to have any idea what my political beliefs might be. I am definitely in the minority today with that view.
