These are units originally created out of fascist or nazi political groups, such as Azov and Right Sector. The excuse they offer for the apparent systematic collapse of the Donbas frontline brigades is that since Gen. Sirskyi replaced Gen. Zaluzhni as Commander in Chief, the elite Nazi brigades have been forced to enforce military discipline and normal order. Under Zaluzhni brigade commanders were allowed autonomy. They tended to force lightly trained/untrained recently conscripted replacement troops into combat activity at the front and save the more experienced, reliably politicized veterans safely in the rear. Sirskyi's reorganization caused a rebellion within the political brigades, as the veterans refused orders to deploy forward and fight. Several of these brigades disintegrated and disobeying orders, abandoned their positions to the attacking Russians. In response to this treachery, Sirskyi ordered the dismantling of several brigades and their soldiers spread out to other brigades. It goes without saying that unit cohesion has suffered along the front.
