The real reasons putin attacked Ukraine.

Why do people think that Russia wants to take Ukraine to restore the Soviet Union (which is impossible without going to war with NATO) when it's obvious that Putin just wants to install a puppet regime in Ukraine to prevent them from joining NATO?

Prior to the invasion it posed a HUGE threat to him.


In December 2021 the Russian minimum wage was 12,800 rubles

In December 2021 the exchange rate was 0.36 UAH per RUB. Or to word it the other way around you got 2.77 RUB per UAH

So 6500 UAH was worth 18000 rubles

Russians could see that the more Ukraine was moving away from Russia and towards Europe, the wealthier the man on the street in Ukraine was becoming relative to his Russian equivalent.

So to the Russian regime that was a huge threat as the more that gap was widening the more Russians would be asking questions as to why? Russia had far more natural resources, even when scaled per citizen, so how come Russia was being run so badly that the minimum wage in Ukraine was so much better?

Putin had to act or he risked regime collapse.

Ukraine showed how Putins corruption and incompetence was hurting Russia and that couldn’t be allowed as the Russian people saw the Ukrainians as so similar to them with a shared history from the USSR so why were Russians getting so ripped off while their oligarchs got so rich if ordinary Ukrainians were being allowed a much bigger share.

Ukraine WAS a threat, the lies are just about what sort of threat….. it wasn’t a military threat, it was an example that was showing up Russia.
