Did he rig the elections in favor of his preferred candidate? Is it Russia's goal to impose a sort of Monroe Doctrine over the Ukraine like the U.S. does over Mexico and the Caribbean island nations? During the entire history of that region how long has a geographic area loosely defined at any given time period as the Ukraine existed as a sovereign, independent, self governing nation with its own language, culture and social and political structure?
