to know that I don’t know the subject well enough to form an opinion.

And enough to know that if you haven’t done the research, you haven’t either.

So, yes, we’re both ill-informed on the subject.

You’re free to conclude the research is invalid. After you’ve reviewed it. But to do so before you’ve reviewed it, or before you’re even aware that it exists, is the definition of ill-informed.
